25 March 2024 - Following a recent settlement in the USA where the National Agency of Realtors had to pay millions as a result of claims of artificially inflating prices, a similar conclusion is hoped for in Canada’s case. With a class-action lawsuit filed in January against the Canadian Real Estate Association, many Canadians are optimistic that housing prices will lower, making buying, selling and renting cheaper than in recent years. Canada's 2022 Labour Rights Index (LRI) evaluates citizens' access to decent work across various parameters. The country received an overall composite score ranging from 70.5 to 80 out of 100, indicating reasonable access to decent work.
Canada scored 100 on the criteria of Fair Wages, Safe Work, Fair Treatment, and Prevention of Child and Forced Labour, indicating a healthy work environment for its population. However, Employment Security and Family Responsibilities scored below 50, highlighting the recent challenges faced by employees in Canada due to the pandemic's job security issues.
